In 2012, the Kentucky General Assembly passed HB 1 that focuses on the regulation of pain clinics and prescription drug abuse in Kentucky. This landmark piece of legislation mandated that the Board promulgate regulations on a host of issues relating to the prescribing of controlled substances. One of the regulations that physicians may be most interested in is 201 KAR 9:260, which sets out the mandatory prescribing and dispensing standards for controlled substances in Kentucky. We have completed all the regulations related to HB 1 and they are now in effect.
